Washington State’s Josh Hawkinson and Malachi Flynn get All-Pac-12 honors

PULLMAN – Josh Hawkinson was named to the All-Pac-12 second team and Malachi Flynn was named honorable mention All-Freshman Team by the Pac-12 coaches, the conference announced on Monday.

Hawkinson had been an honorable mention All-Conference player each of the last two seasons. He is the first player from WSU to make either first or second team since DaVonte Lacy was named first team in 2015.

The Shoreline, Washington native is WSU’s all-time leader in rebounds (1,003 and counting) and double-doubles (55 and counting). He currently ranks second in the Pac-12 in rebounding (10.1 per game), free-throw shooting percentage (83.6), 11th in scoring (15.6) and fourth in total minutes played (1,061). He is the 13th Pac-12 player to ever record 1,000 rebounds in a career.

Flynn ranks ninth among Pac-12 freshmen with 10.1 points per game, and seventh in assists with 2.9 per game. He is likely to become just the third freshman since the 1972-73 season to start every game for WSU, joining Klay Thompson and Mark Hendrickson.

Dillon Brooks from Oregon was named the Pac-12 Player of the Year, and Arizona’s Sean Miller the Coach of the Year. UO’s Jordan Bell was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Year, UCLA’s Lonzo Ball the Freshman of the year, and USC’s Chimezie Metu the conference’s Most Improved Player.
