Dealership

Lone Wolf Harley-Davidson has received the Gold Bar & Shield Circle of Excellence Award for 2016. The award is given to the top three Harley-Davidson dealerships in each U.S. sales market and is earned based on sales performance, customer satisfaction and operational measures. The Spokane Valley dealership has earned the award each year it has been in business.

Blood

After the Blood Systems Inc. and Inland Northwest Blood Center merger, three INBC board members have joined the Blood Center Foundation of the Inland Northwest’s board of directors. Cathy Simchuk, an independent health care consultant; Dr. Christopher Montague of InCyte Diagnostics; and Sidney Kasuga, Ph.D. at Eastern Washington University have been on the board since February.

The Blood Center Foundation of the Inland Northwest has also announced funding for five grants. The North Idaho College Foundation Phlebotomy Program will receive a $1,550.80 technology grant for classroom equipment. The Inland Northwest Blood Center will receive $2,900 for the 2017-18 INBC High School Heroes Program. St. Thomas More Catholic School, St. Charles Catholic School and Stratton Elementary School will each receive a $1,500 grant to support the Blood Center Foundation of the Inland Northwest Elementary/Middle School STEM Leadership Grant.

Construction

Walker Construction Inc. has won national honors for its construction of the Rockwood Summit Tower in Spokane. The National Excellence in Construction Eagle Award was presented by the Associated Builders and Contractors and recognizes innovative and high-quality projects. The award honors all of a project’s team members and is judged based on complexity, attractiveness, completion time, workmanship, safety and cost. Ed Walker and Justin Paine accepted the award on behalf of Walker Construction.

Education

Dr. Mel Haberman has been named Washington State University’s Ph.D Program Director. Haberman, a nursing professor, has also taught at Seattle Pacific University and the University of Washington and has been the Director of Nursing Research at both Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle and the Oncology Nursing Society. His research focuses on the health-related quality of life of cancer survivors, and his interests include oncology, cancer survivorship, health-related quality of life, alternative therapies for cancer and the demands of illness.

In addition, WSU has announced Dr. Jo Ann Dotson has achieved tenure and has been named associate professor in the College of Nursing, Dr. Barbara Richardson and Dr. Anne Mason have been named clinical assistant professors and professors Valerie Hennessy, Robin Faubion and Jayne Beebe have been promoted to senior instructors.

Fundraising

North Idaho College Foundation executive director Rayelle Anderson has met the standards to be named a Certified Fund Raising Executive by CFRE International. Anderson has been certified by CFRE International since 1998 and has maintained certification with continued fundraising results and ongoing professional education.

Hospitality

Holiday Inn Express & Suites Coeur d’Alene and Holiday Inn Express Spokane Valley have been awarded InterContinental Hotels Group’s Torchbearer award, given to the top 5 percent of hotels based on all aspects of hospitality, including quality, service and satisfaction.

Law

Jeffery Crandall has been certified as an Estate Planning Law Specialist by the Estate Law Specialist Board Inc. Crandall, of Crandall Law Group in Hayden, joins a small group of attorneys in Idaho with the certification. To become certified, Crandall has spent a minimum of one-third of his time with estate planning for five years, passed a comprehensive examination and received recommendations for the certification from fellow attorneys. He has practiced estate planning for more than two decades.

Safety

Scott Talley has been named Waste Management’s Driver of the Year. Talley, a 19-year veteran, was selected based on his contributions to safety, customer service and community commitment.
