GLENDALE, Ariz. – Fanatics, an online store for sports apparel and gear, found that Gonzaga is second to North Carolina in the most merchandise sold state by state this week, according to data released by Fanatics on Thursday.

In the week leading up to the Final Four, Gonzaga led the pack in sports gear sales across 11 states, covering mostly the Northwest and some of the Midwest. Other states, like Minnesota, Vermont and Alaska have moved into top-selling markets for GU gear in the last week.

North Carolina currently has the most states in its Carolina blue and white. The Tar Heels have claimed 25 states this week primarily in the east. North Carolina grabbed the top spot in merchandise sales in some Midwest states also, such as North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Texas.

Oregon is currently third in top-selling markets, with nine states. South Carolina is the top seller in only five states.

Gonzaga led the other three teams with the biggest spike in merchandise across the country from last week to this week. Zags merchandise jumped 825 percent from last week, followed by South Carolina, which had a 660 percent spike in apparel sold this week.

Seattle and Spokane are the top two cities for Gonzaga merchandise in the past week. They are followed by San Francisco, Phoenix and Portland. The majority of sales in Portland, however, are Ducks merchandise.
