Two arrested after ramming Department of Transportation truck on I-90
Two men were arrested after their car rammed into the back of a Washington Department of Transportation truck Wednesday afternoon on Interstate 90 and they fled the scene.
The DOT sign truck, which was activated to warn drivers of street sweepers ahead blocking the left lane, was in the left eastbound lane near the Sullivan exit, according to Washington State Patrol. The truck, driven by 42-year-old John Laughlin of Spokane Valley, was hit from behind by a Dodge Neon driven by 45-year-old Gramer L. Mann of Hansville, Washington.
Mann fled the scene in his car but was caught and arrested by WSP troopers shortly after the crash. He has been booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, hit and run, driving with a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mann’s passenger, 35-year-old Andrew L. McElhaney of East Wenatchee, was also arrested. His charges were not yet listed on the jail roster Wednesday night.
Laughlin received minor injuries and was treated at a local hospital.
