1. SFCC 50th Anniversary Celebration 4:30 p.m. Friday, Spokane Falls Community College, 3410 W. Fort George Wright Drive. Spokane Falls Community College is 50, and they’re celebrating with an afternoon of free and fun activities followed by a drive-in movie. Enjoy planetarium shows, entrance into the CCS Athletics soccer game, lawn games, sidewalk chalk drawing, visits with Skitch, campus tours and department demos (including 3D printing in the library) and art displays. 2. Gonzaga Men’s Basketball Kraziness in the Kennel 4 p.m. Saturday, McCarthey Athletic Center, 801 N. Cincinatti Drive. Get a first look at the 2017-18 Gonzaga men’s basketball team in the Blue & White Scrimmage. Festivities include appearances by Spike and the Gonzaga Cheerleaders, performances by the Gonzaga Dance Team & Bomb Squad, an autograph session with the men’s basketball team and more. 3. No Clue 8 p.m. Friday, Blue Door Theatre, 815 W. Garland Ave. We follow the mayhem of being trapped in an inn full of quirky characters – one with a grudge to settle. When the evening is over you (the audience) decide who is responsible for all the dead bodies. This all improvised murder mystery is rated for general audiences. 4. Star Wars Reads Day 1-3 p.m. Coeur d’Alene Library, 702 E. Front Ave., Coeur d’Alene. The event will feature Star Wars games, crafts, activities – and a visit from the 501st Legion. Following the fun at 3 p.m., a free movie – “Rogue One” (rated PG-13) will be screened in the Community Room. “Star Wars Rebels: Spark of Rebellion” – the two-part pilot for the animated series – will be screened in the Shirley Parker Story Room, also at 3 p.m. (208) 769-2315. Main Ave. The Alliance for Media Arts and Culture, in partnership with the Magic Lantern and The Black Lens, is hosting a series of eight award-winning independent documentary films at the Magic Lantern in downtown Spokane. 10. “The Thing” 7 p.m. Monday, Bing Crosby Theater, 901 W. Sprague Ave. John Carpenter’s 1982 fantasy-sci-fi hit is back for another round on the big screen starring Kurt Russell and Richard Dysart in “The Thing.” Travel to remote Antarctica, where a group of research scientists are puzzled when a helicopter shoots a sled dog near their base camp. Things take a much darker and violent turn when the scientists bring the dog back to camp only to find that it brutally attacks crew members and their canines. It also assumes the shape of its victims. A helicopter pilot (Russell) and camp doctor (Dysart) engage in a gruesome battle against the beast to save their crew. Rated R. (509) 227-7638.
