After wild triple-overtime comeback, Washington State drops to No. 21 in AP poll
PULLMAN – The Cougars staged their biggest comeback in 33 years, but it did them no good in the Associated Press Top 25 poll.
One day after a 47-44 triple-overtime win over Boise State, Washington State dropped one spot to No. 21 in the national rankings. The Cougars stayed put at No. 22 in the Amway Coaches Poll, which was also released Sunday.
WSU debuted at No. 24 in the AP poll, but jumped four places after a 31-0 rout of Montana State in the season opener. The Cougars came back from 21 points down to beat Boise State Saturday night in Pullman, though they entered the game against the unranked Broncos as a 10-point favorite.
USC jumped two spots to No. 4 after a 42-24 win over Stanford. Washington moved up one place to No. 6 after drubbing Montana 63-7 and Stanford fell five spots after losing to the Trojans. UCLA cracked the Top 25 after cruising past Hawaii, entering at No. 25.
Three of the first five teams receiving Top 25 votes are all from the Pac-12 Conference: Utah (101), Colorado (66) and Oregon (61).
