Four athletes, three state championship teams and a coach were inducted into the Central Valley High School Wall of Fame during halftime of the Bears’ home football game Friday against North Central.

Athletes inducted were Jack “Buck” Brownson, a four-sport standout (football, basketball, baseball and track) who graduated in 1942; Lynda Clegg, a three-sport star (basketball, volleyball and track), who graduated in 1985; Craig Kent, football and track, a 2003 graduate; and Emily Westerberg, a basketball standout and 2003 graduate.

Back-to-back girls state basketball champions from 2001 and 2002 coached by Dale Poffenroth, the latter a perfect 29-0, are joined on the wall by the 1998 girls 4x400 state championship relay team of Stephanie Grace, Wendy Wagar, Corinne Gannon and Leslie Meredith.

Rick Giampietri, who compiled a 146-87-1 record, three GSL championships and a state title in 23 years as CV’s head football coach before retiring in 2015, rounded out the honorees.
