Sheriff’s Office investigating two threats to local high schools
The Spokane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating two recent threats made to area high schools via social media.
Riverside High School opened an hour late Friday morning after being placed on modified lockdown due to a threat, made by a student via social media, to bring a gun to school. Riverside Middle School and Riverside Elementary School were also placed on modified lockdown due to their proximity to the high school, according to a Sheriff’s Office news release.
The student in question was located early Friday afternoon by the U.S. Marshal’s Office and arrested on an unrelated warrant, according to the release.
A second threat was made Thursday evening by a Medical Lake High School student. In a letter sent to parents and families, Principal Chris Spring said that the student would not be allowed on campus while an investigation by law enforcement was underway.
