Conservation program on Patagonia upcoming at REI

CONSERVATION – Ric Conner, Denise Attwood and Nancy Schaub will present a slide show and discuss one of the largest donations of privately held land on March 22.

Schaub is a long-time supporter of Tompkins Conservation. In January, the California-based land conservancy gave the Chilean government more than 1 million acres of land. The Chilean government matched the gift, adding nearly 9 million acres of federal land to the new national park system.

In December Schaub, Conner and Attwood toured Pumalin Park and Park Patagonia prior to the donation and inclusion in the Chilean National Park system. The presentation will feature photos from the trip and will touch on conservation, philanthropy, restoration and adventure tourism.

The event will be held at the Spokane REI (1125 N. Monroe St.) from 6-7:30 p.m. The talk is free, although there are only 50 spots available. To register: rei.com.
