Blue Devils beat Georgia twice to make first super regional
Duke achieved yet another baseball milestone under coach Chris Pollard, reaching the super regional round of the NCAA Tournament for the first time.
Coming through the losers’ bracket, the Blue Devils beat No. 8 national seed Georgia twice Monday in Athens to win a regional for the first time since 1961.
Duke joined Minnesota, Stetson and Washington as teams headed to super regionals for the first time.
Mississippi State and South Carolina also won regional finals on Monday and are among five Southeastern Conference teams going to supers. The SEC matched its record with 10 teams in the national tournament. No. 1 national seed Florida and No. 4 national seed Mississippi played regional finals Monday night, giving the SEC a chance to get seven teams to supers.
