Softball roundup: Rylee Merritt hit a grand slam and added five RBIs and Colville shutout Freeman

Colville 15, Freeman 0: Rylee Merritt went 2 for 3 with a grand slam and five RBIs and the Indians beat the Scotties.

Ambrie Jones threw a one-hit shutout for Colville.

Greater Spokane League

Central Valley 11, Mead 1: Hannah Wampler went 2 for 4 with five RBIs and the Bears beat the Panthers. Kelsey Gumm threw a one-hitter with 11 strikeouts.

Mt. Spokane 10, Rogers 0: Jesse Dupuis spun a one-hit shutout, striking out ten, and the Wildcats downed the Pirates. Ashton Cathey homered, doubled and drove in three to lead the offense.

North Central 10, Ferris 1: Ashley Sweeney went 2 for 2 with four runs and the Indians beat the Saxons. Taylor Hart went 2 for 3 with a run for Ferris.

Lewis and Clark 4, Gonzaga Prep 1: Kylie Pester went 2 for 4 with four RBIs and the Tigers beat the Bullpups. Josie Kobluk slugged a solo home run for Gonzaga Prep.

University 14, Shadle Park 4: Brianna Hecker went 3 for 4 with a double and a triple and the Titans beat the Highlanders. Carley Bachmeier went 2 for 3 with a double for Shadle Park.

Northeast A

Medical Lake 11, Newport 7: Suzanne Shores had four hits with four RBIs and the Cardinals outlasted the Grizzlies.

Chewelah 20, Riverside 0: Winning pitcher Jaelynn Skok also tripled and homered with four RBIs and the Cougars blanked the Rams.

Lakeside 12, Deer Park 4: Olivia Charbonneau singled twice, doubled and homered, driving in three runs, and the Eagles downed the Stags.

Nonleague

Cheney 8, Othello 3: Meghan Krantz homered, doubled and singled twice, scoring three runs and driving in two, and the Blackhawks downed the Huskies.

Colton 13, Prairie 3: Taylor Thomas went 3 for 3 with a home and three RBIs and the Wildcats beat the Falcons.
