Man in Spokane standoff taken into custody without incident
A man wanted by Spokane police barricaded himself in a multifamily home Wednesday afternoon but was later taken into custody without incident.
On Wednesday at about 12:45 p.m., the Spokane Police Department responded to a reported burglary on the 300 block of South Haven Street.
Police determined the suspect, 26-year-old Gunner Doughty, knew the occupants, according to a Spokane Police Department statement.
Police evacuated all the residents of the building.
During the standoff, the suspect called family members to tell them he was hiding in the bathroom at a nearby gas station, but police confirmed that information to be false, according to the statement.
Police located the suspect in a residence adjacent to the one he initially entered. Doughty had attempted to hide and barricade himself from police but was taken into custody shortly after being located.
Doughty was booked into the Spokane County Jail on his pre-existing warrants, including one for possession of a stolen firearm. Spokane police say new charges could be added in relation to Wednesday’s incident.
