Idaho’s proposed big game rules announced, Coeur d’Alene meeting today
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game is asking for hunter feedback on the 2019-20 big game season rules and regulations. Throughout March IDFG will hold open houses. Proposed changes are available at idfg.idaho.gov/rules/big-game/19-20-proposals.
Proposed changes for the Panhandle region include:
— White tailed deer: Modify and better define X-tags from “within one mile of private land” to “on or within one mile of a private agriculture field”
— Mule deer: no changes
— Elk: Modify Unit 5 Controlled Hunt as a result of hunter/landowner/tribal conflicts; Antlerless elk controlled hunts changed to “on or within one mile of a private agriculture field”
— Black bear: no changes
— Mountain lion: Lengthen season dates to allow for more opportunity
— Gray wolf: Lengthen season dates for trapping to allow for more opportunity
An open house will be held Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Coeur d’Alene Fish and Game regional office, 2885 W. Kathleen Ave.
