One climber was killed and two were injured by rock fall on Mount Rainier’s Liberty Ridge route Wednesday evening.

Thursday morning search and rescue crews arrived and flew the two injured climbers off the mountain.

The Pierce County Medical Examiner identified the dead climber as Arleigh William Dean, 45, of Juneau, Alaska. A group of six climbers were caught in the rockfall while camping on the mountains most difficult route.
