Prep softball: Central Valley places second in 4A districts

Richland 9, Central Valley 2: Taylor Clark went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and the Bombers (24-0) beat the Bears (15-4) in the title game at Columbia Playfields in Richland on Saturday. Suheyla Tanak was 2 for 3 with a run for CV. Both teams head to state.

Chiawana 5, Lewis and Clark 0: Maile Bishop tossed a one-hitter and the Riverhawks (16-7) eliminated the Tigers (10-9) in the third-place game.

Lewis and Clark 5, University 2: Kylie Pester spun a two-hitter and hit a home run and the Tigers eliminated University (14-6) in a loser-out. Alyssa Benthagen hit a solo shot for U-Hi.

District 5/7 2A

East Valley (Yakima) 8, East Valley 7: Lexi Alvardo scrambled home on an error and the Red Devils (16-7) walked off the visiting Knights (10-10) in a crossover. Abby Brake went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Knights.

Selah 14, West Valley 1: The visiting Vikings (12-13) eliminated the Great Northern League champion Eagles (16-2) in a crossover.

District 6/7 1A

Colville 6, Cascade 4: Hallie Cox went 2 for 3 with three RBIs and the Indians (15-6) eliminated the visiting Kodiaks (18-5) in a crossover.

Freeman 17, Okanogan 12: Abby Amend knocked in five and the visiting Scotties (15-7) beat the Bulldogs (17-5) in a crossover.

District 7 2B

Northwest Christian 4, Chewelah 1: Alison Shaler struck out 10 in a complete game and the Crusaders (20-3) beat the Cougars (14-8) in the title game at Franklin Field. Both teams advanced to state.

Northwest Christian 4, Liberty 0: Alison Shaler struck out seven and the Crusaders (19-3) beat the Lancers (11-5) in a semifinal.

Chewelah 9, Colfax 6: Bailey Smith went 3 for 3 with two runs and the Cougars (14-7) beat the Bulldogs (18-3) in a semifinal.

Kettle Falls 16, Asotin 1: Jocelyn Glover tossed a seven-hitter and the Bulldogs (12-9) defeated the Panthers (7-16) in a loser-out game.

Idaho State

Rocky Mountain 15, Coeur d’Alene 7: The Vikings (12-9) fell in a 5A State semifinal at Post Falls HS.

Mountain View 1, Lake City 0: Oakleigh Kearby pitched a one-hit shutout and the Mavericks (26-3) eliminated the Timberwolves (26-1) in a 5A semifinal.

Lake City 4, Eagle 3: Ashley Kaufman hit a two-run homer in the seventh and a walk-off single in the eighth and the Timberwolves beat the Mustangs (22-6) in a 5A first-round game.

Pocatello 15, Lakeland 9: Hanna Evans went 2 for 2 with six RBIs and the Indians (17-11) eliminated the Hawks (10-16) in a 4A first-round game at Coeur d’Alene HS.

Filer 6, Timberlake 3: The Tigers (18-2) lost in a 3A semifinal at Ramsey Park in Coeur d’Alene. Timberlake beat Snake River 9-3 in a first-round game.

South Fremont 12, Priest River 2: The Spartans (12-10) dropped a 3A first-round game at Ramsey Park.
