Education

Washington State University Health Sciences has named Mary Koithan dean of the WSU College of Nursing. Koithan has served as interim dean for the WSU College of Nursing since March 2019 and will assume dean duties on July 1. She has more than 30 years of academic and leadership experience in nursing and was associate dean for student and community engagement at the University of Arizona College of Nursing.

WSU College of Nursing has hired Cynthia Smutny as director of finance and administrative services. She worked previously as budget director in the Gonzaga University School of Education. She had worked at Gonzaga in several roles since 1999.

WSU Health Sciences has named Mark Leid dean of the College of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. He is currently an Oregon State University College of Pharmacy professor and the associate dean for research. Leid will assume his new duties July 1.

Engineering

DCI Engineers has promoted Casey Stevenson to the position of associate at the firm’s Bozeman office. He is a project leader for DCI’s industrial support teams represented in Spokane and Seattle. Stevenson has 12 years of engineering experience.

Health

The Adult Congenital Heart Association has announced the newest additions to its Medical Advisory Board, including Jeremy Nicolarsen of Providence Center for Congenital Heart Disease, Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center and Children’s Hospital in Spokane.

Cancer Care Northwest has hired Kristine J. Rinn as a medical oncologist/hematologist. She had worked as a medical oncologist at Swedish Cancer Institute since 2001, where she specialized in breast cancer treatment.

Public relations

The Advertising Specialty Institute has awarded Kristina A. Beal with a Master of Advertising Specialty Information certification, the industry equivalent of a master’s degree. She works for American Solutions for Business in Spokane.
