Spokane police arrest 2 people following reported drive-by shooting Wednesday
Two people were jailed Wednesday night following a reported drive-by shooting in the Chief Garry Park Neighborhood, Spokane police said.
Randy J. Shaeffer, 48, and Lindsey A. Hendrickson, 25, were both booked into jail just after 10 p.m.
Police were called to the 2400 block of East Desmet Avenue around 8 p.m., when a man reported he’d heard a gunshot after a silver Mazda pulled up next to him. The man identified Shaeffer and gave authorities an address to look for him.
The man was not injured, according to a police news release. The man had been quarreling with Hendrickson prior to the shooting, according to court documents.
Police arrived at a residence in the 700 block of North Altamont Street and discovered the Mazda, as well as Shaeffer. Hendrickson, Shaeffer’s cousin, matched a description given by the man shot at, who had a romantic involvement with Hendrickson.
Inside the Mazda, police found an empty gun holster and a spent shell casing. Shaeffer’s pickup truck was searched, and authorities found a handgun wrapped in a T-shirt.
Both Hendrickson and Shaeffer have been convicted of felonies and are not allowed to legally possess firearms, according to police.
They are scheduled to make their first court appearances Thursday on charges of assault, drive-by shooting and illegal possession of a firearm.
Police have reported other drive-by shootings in the West Central and Cliff-Cannon neighborhoods in recent days.
