Torrey Lawrence has been named provost and executive vice president at the University of Idaho. Lawrence has been in the role on an interim basis since April, and previously served as the vice provost for faculty since 2018. He came to the university in 1998 as a faculty member in the Lionel Hampton School of Music, then served as Director of Athletic Bands from 1998-2012, associate director of the LHSOM from 2012-13, director from 2013-17 and as an associate dean in the College of Letters, Arts and Social Sciences prior to moving to the Provost’s Office. Lawrence earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in music performance and wind conducting from the University of Oregon as well as Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degrees from Northwestern University.

HonorsThe YMCA of the Inland Northwest has received the Better Business Bureau’s Torch Award for Ethics, which recognizes businesses and nonprofits dedicated to integrity and ethical business practices. The BBB has annual, open applications and nominations for the Torch Awards program and says it is the “most prestigious BBB award presented.” The award criteria evaluates a business’ commitment to leadership of ethical practices, community, performance management practices and ethical human resource practices, as well as communication of ethical practices and leadership practices that unify the organization.
