Education

WSU Health Sciences Spokane has named Gwen Halaas the vice chancellor of academic affairs. She has worked in medical education for more than 34 years as a faculty member and in administrative roles. Halaas previously worked as the medical director at Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Dakota and senior associate dean at the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences.

Health

Fyzical Therapy and Balance Centers has hired Shelby Gordon as a physical therapist specializing in pelvic health. She graduated with a doctorate in physical therapy from Idaho State University in 2019.

Law

Lukins & Annis P.S. has hired Thomas J. Burford and Allen T. Miller as attorneys. Burford is a member of the transactional team and recently graduated from Gonzaga University School of Law. Miller is a member of the litigation and transactional team whose practice will focus on land use, the environment and real estate. He previously worked in private practice in Olympia for 25 years.

Real Estate

SHBA also announced its 2020 board of directors.Ben McGerty of Hayden Homes is president. Other officers include First Vice President Scott Milionis of Milionis Custom Homes, Second Vice President Nick Gilliland of Blasingame Insurance, Secretary Corey Condron of Condron Homes, Treasurer Aaron Fielder of First Interstate Bank and Past President Nick Barnes of Construction Services.

Honors

The Spokane Home Builders Association has inducted Jim Norman of Norman Construction and the late Bill Main Sr. of Re/Max into the SHBA Builders Hall of Fame. Norman has run Norman Construction since 1974 and is a past president of the SHBA. Main was an active member of the real estate community for almost 50 years and helped develop the Meadowwood Development in Liberty Lake. He died in 2018.
