Reader photo: Early morning sunbathing

Joanie Christian took this photo of a coyote on Feb. 19 after getting an early morning call. “I often get early morning calls from people who have spotted something that I might like to photograph ... owls, elk, hoarfrost, newly born farm animals, bobcat, a nest, coyote. Though sometimes I’m woken up from the dead of sleep, and bleary eyed while frantically trying to quickly get myself out the door before the animal or bird is gone, I am always grateful for those calls, as it gives me an opportunity to photograph something interesting, and often in beautiful conditions like this coyote basking in the morning sun.” (COURTESY of Joanie Christian)
