The National Weather Service in Spokane has issued a heat advisory for most of southeastern and Central Washington from noon Monday through the end of the day Tuesday.

Temperatures in Spokane are expected to flirt with the 100-degree mark on Monday and Tuesday, with negligible winds, forecasters say. Wednesday and Thursday will be just as hot, with a cooldown anticipated for the weekend.

Forecasters said that the heat advisory scheduled to end Tuesday evening may need to be extended for much of the week.

Moses Lake and other Central Washington cities are likely to see temperatures above 100 degrees both days. The National Weather Service cautions people who have to be outside to drink lots of fluids and take frequent breaks.

If daytime temperatures reach their forecasted totals, Spokane could threaten same daily heat records. The record high temperature for Wednesday is 100 degrees, set in 2014. On Tuesday and Thursday, the records are 102 degrees, set in 1939 and 1929, respectively. Monday’s record is 106 degrees, set in 1934.
