Spokane task force search results in AR-15, heroin
A Spokane Regional Safe Streets Task Force search of a man convicted of three prior felonies led to the discovery of a semiautomatic rifle and four grams of heroin, according to a Spokane County Sheriff’s press release.
On June 3, two members of the task force – made up of FBI, local police, Spokane County sheriff’s deputies and other law enforcement – saw two men walking on Regal Street, near Bridgeport Avenue, and recognized one of them as Wyatt Comer, 19, the release says.
There was probable cause for Comer’s arrest due to an alleged domestic violence incident in the area and an out-of-state warrant for his arrest, according to the release.
Investigators verified Comer’s identity and arrested him for the local domestic violence charge. While under arrest, they searched his backpack. Along with the rifle and heroin, the task force found a loaded magazine, pills, multiple empty Ziploc baggies and a digital scale, the release says.
Because Comer has been convicted of felonies, it is illegal for him to own a firearm. He was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and the original domestic violence charge, according to the release.
Comer’s previous convictions are for possession of stolen property, third degree assault and car theft.
The second male was released at the scene and was not charged with a crime, the release says.
