Spokane man shattered Garry Middle School windows with BB gun, police say

From staff reports

Spokane police arrested a man Thursday on suspicion of shattering several windows at Garry Middle School with a BB gun and causing thousands of dollars worth of damage earlier this week.

Police say the Tuesday crime was caught on video and that a school resource officer recognized the suspect as he rode a scooter around Shaw Middle School on Thursday.

When officers arrested Nicholas S. Kelley, 19, they reportedly found him in possession of burnt heroin as well as a realistic looking BB gun wrapped in a blond wig.

Kelley has a history of burglary, eluding police and theft, according to the Spokane Police Department.

Kelley was not booked into jail due to concerns about transmission of COVID-19 among inmates, but he was charged by affidavit for two felonies, second-degree malicious mischief and illegal possession of a controlled substance.
