New jobless claims exceeded 5,800 in Idaho last week
Laid-off workers in Idaho filed 5,800 new jobless claims last week, according to the Idaho Department of Labor.
Th number of continued claims in the state dropped to 60,121, an 8% decrease from a week prior, according to the department.
The accommodation and food services sector represented more than 15% of total claims filed May 10-16. Manufacturing represented 13% of claims last week. Retail, and health care and social assistance, each represented 11% of claims filed in the state.
Idaho workers have filed 136,901 initial claims for unemployment benefits in the past nine weeks, more than doubling the amount of new claims filed in all of 2019.
