Education

The University of Idaho has appointed Teresa Koeppel as chief marketing officer as well as executive director of university communications and marketing. Koeppel is the global director for communication, marketing and engagement for Compass Group at Google and will assume her new position at the University of Idaho in November. She previously was director for campaign communication and the senior director for communications and engagement at University of Washington Medicine Advancement, as well as the director for marketing and communication at the Washington State University Foundation.

Finance

Kootenai Electric Cooperative has hired Garcy Girnus as a plant accountant. She will be responsible for fixed asset accounting. Girnus most recently was senior accountant for Ponderary Newsprint Co. in Usk, Washington. She graduated from Eastern Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in professional accounting.

HealthProvidence Spokane Heart Institute has announced the addition of four new cardiac providers to Providence Spokane Cardiology and in affiliation with Providence Sacred Heart Medical Center. Cardiologist Dr. Timothy Ball is certified in interventional cardiology, cardiovascular disease, critical care and nuclear cardiology and has professional interest in coronary artery disease prevention and treatment. He previously served in the Air Force as a flight surgeon and internal medicine physician. Dr. Amber Boler practices general cardiology and echocardiography with interest in consultative cardiology, valvular heart disease and coronary artery disease prevention and treatment. She completed her residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease with Mayo Clinic. Dr. Kavisha Singh is a noninvasive cardiologist with interest in cardiac imaging, general cardiology and cardiovascular disease prevention. She received her medical degree from Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School and completed her cardiology fellowship at University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and her Internal Medicine Residency at Duke University Medical Center. Alia Soulek served as a nurse in the Sacred Hearth Medical Center cardiology department for seven years after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from South Dakota State University in 2012. She earned a doctor of nursing practice-family nurse practitioner degree with a certification in Nursing Leadership from Washington State University. Alia is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners.

Northwest Specialty Hospital has earned a five-star rating from Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services. More than 3,400 hospitals in the nation were evaluated, with less than 10% receiving a five-star rating. Northwest Specialty Hospital is the only hospital in the region to receive a five-star rating, marking its seventh year to be recognized by CMS for high measures of quality as reported by the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems survey.
