Today the city will be celebrating the fifth anniversary of the opening of the CenterPlace Regional Event Center at Mirabeau Park with an open house from 4 to 6 p.m. The 54,000-square-foot facility includes an auditorium and rooms of all sizes. “We’ve come a long way in five years,” said Spokane Valley parks and recreation director Mike Stone.

District 4 puts levy at same level as one it replaces

Spokane County District No. 4 fire commissioners are taking a conservative approach in asking for renewal of the district’s six-year property tax levy for emergency medical services. When a tree limb came crashing down and hit a nearby power line, he knew he had to call Avista and he knew he’d be without power for a while – but he couldn’t imagine the chain of events set off by that downed power line, or that his new puppy Max would be the hero of the day.
