Here’s a news item from the Associated Press: BOISE, Idaho (AP) — Four Idaho residents charged in connection with an armed standoff in Nevada were appointed public defenders during their first federal court appearance on Friday. The Idaho Statesman (http://bit.ly/1TZkyF7 ) reports that if they are convicted, Eric James Parker, Steve Arthur Stewart, O. Scott Drexler and Todd Engle could face life sentences and forfeiture of around $3 million in property, plus cattle and firearms. So far 19 people have been charged with crimes including conspiracy, assaults and threats in connection with the 2014 armed standoff over grazing cattle on U.S. land near Cliven Bundy's Nevada ranch. Parker and Stewart, both of Hailey, Idaho, and Drexler, of Challis, Idaho, appeared in person in the Boise federal courtroom. Engle, a resident of Boundary County, is being held in Coeur d'Alene and appeared via video conference. Drexler, Parker and Stewart are scheduled for detention hearings on March 9 in Boise. Engle's detention hearing is set for March 10 in Coeur d'Alene.
