House passes tax-cut bill on 58-11 vote

The House has voted 58-11 in favor of HB 67, Rep. Mike Moyle’s tax cut bill, which would lower the top personal and corporate income tax rates from 7.4 percent to 7.2 percent, plus exempt the first $750 in taxable income. Its fiscal impact is estimated at $51.2 million. It was a straight party-line vote, with all House Republicans who were present voting yes, and all 11 House Democrats voting no. Just one lawmaker was absent, Rep. Luke Malek, R-Coeur d'Alene.

The bill now moves to the Senate side, where it likely will head to the Senate Local Government & Taxation Committee.
