Senate plans ‘long day with a lot of pauses,’ won’t take up only bill on calendar…

While the House has been going through and passing many of the bills on its calendar, while putting others off; Senate Majority Leader Bart Davis, R-Idaho Falls, told the Senate they have just one bill on their calendar today – SB 1162, the $300 million GARVEE bonding bill, which has been nicknamed “Diet GARVEE,” as it doesn’t contain any other, additional transportation funding mechanisms. “It’s not our intention to pick that bill up today,” Davis said.

Instead, the Senate is running through its other orders of business, including recognizing two new substitute senators who are sitting in today for Sens. Buckner-Webb and Siddoway. Davis said the Senate will consider concurring in the House amendments to SB 1093, a bill regarding unlawful entry (it's now done so); address some other formalities; and then the Senate majority plans to caucus.

“This could be a long day with a lot of pauses and a little work along the way, or it could be a shorter day,” Davis told the Senate. “I wish that I could give you better direction than that.”
