Mayor Verner, Rap Star

Mary Verner, Mayor of Spokane AKA Queen Mary (The Spokesman-Review)
Mary Verner, Mayor of Spokane AKA Queen Mary (The Spokesman-Review)

Good morning, Netizens...

You'd better set your coffee down, perhaps even brace yourself against the back of the couch on your front porch because this might startle you.

Our very own Queen Mary, Mayor of our fair city, the illuminated, uplifted, Tsarista of all that is decent and orderly, excepting our streets and our budget, has taken to rapping. Yup. You read it here. Browse to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w0IvG5g0B5k and watch her in action.

Verner took the stage during a set change and rapped with Gasmasq (Josh White) about the changes happening in Spokane.

Aside from the fact this might set a new precedent for elected officials, can you imagine Police Chief Kirkpatrick rapping about swift justice after the James Olson trial which is slated to begin today, two years after-the-fact? Of course, that is barring any last-minute postponements.

Of course, the undying question I want to know is will Queen Mary rap for us at tonight's City Council meeting?

Oh Lord have mercy!
