UTEP Head Coach Mike Price has been under the glare of public scrutiny for the past year as he suffers through the debacle of his job at Alabama and then starting his career over at lowly University of Texas at El Paso. He is shadowed by a TV cameraman the night of the season opening game at Arizona State. Now, he has settled his defamation suit with Sports Illustrated. See Item No. 2.

3. American Indian students at Washington State U are passing out T-shirts that say things like "Killumbus lied! Stop celebrating genocide!" as they dis the observance of Columbus Day today here. Meanwhile, federal workers are celebrating because today is a holiday for them here.

4. Your college student may complain about the dorm food at Gonzaga U, but the poor that get the leftovers under the university's Campus Kitchens projects consider it to be nothing but heaven here.

5. UI prez Tim White is released from the hospital after recovering from a third heart attack here.
