“I don’t claim to be a prophet, but back in a December column (Dec. 15, to be exact), I said the Lewiston High boys basketball team would lose at least one Inland Empire League game. And I said the team that would inflict that defeat would be Coeur d’Alene. Last Saturday, Coeur d’Alene handed the second-ranked Bengals, previously unbeaten overall at 14-0, their first setback, 73-62, at Lewiston’s Booth Hall. Truth be known, it should have been at least the second loss for Lewiston. And it should have been the second time the Vikings defeated the Bengals. CdA built an 11-point lead over visiting Lewiston before the Bengals rallied for an 80-74 win in overtime Jan. 10. What does it all mean? The postseason should be nothing short of entertaining.”
