Huckleberries Online

Inside Huckleberries — 3/26/07

*Huckleberries hears ... that there's a reason the North Idaho Sentinel was published without a story by Al Williams, a newby journalism student and NIC athletic director. He didn't turn his story about area outdoor pursuits into the editors or time. Too bad, so sad.

...

*My Amy Dearest is looking for a marketing/PR internship in Kootenai County this summer. She writes: "Essentially, I am looking for an internship in the field of Event Planning, Public Relations, or Marketing/Advertising to gain some hands on experience in the workplace. I'd love to do something related to planning a fundraising endeavor, putting together events for a school or company, being on a creative marketing team, creating advertising materials, working with businesses to develop branding strategies, and so forth." (You can find her list of accomplishments in extended entry box below. Sorry for the blatant announcement, but I'd like to get my talented offspring home for one more summer.)
...

*MamaJD sends along the autopsy report for Anna Nicole Smith by Dr. Joshua Perper, who lists among his conclusions, the "anus is unremarkable." (Just one more reason you should avoid an autopsy when you check out.)
...

*Duane Rassmussen has found another wi-fi site: "On the east side of Government Way and just across the street from the Hayden Starbucks, you can find Hayden Creek Coffee where the Wifi is free and the atmosphere just as nice or better than Starbucks. It is a new place for me to roam the internet on my laptop." (I need to post a list of free wi-fi sites in one of the rails.)
...

*I've written off Starbucks as a wi-fi facilitator. On Sunday, I stopped by, after a haircut at Sure Cuts, to borrow the Starbucks signal -- only to be told that it'd cost $9.95 for a "day pass." Seems T-Mobile cuss-tomers can get the service free. But everyone else pays through the nose to use Starbucks wi-fi. No thanks -- $1.75 for a mid-sized coffee is bad enough. Or is that called a "tall" coffee? I never pay attention to the tall, grande, venti thing.
...

*Rocket's Brain Trust: "Say what's up with the S-R headline editor -- (Sunday's) B Section Page 1 above the fold? "Officer shoots man - Dead man ran, fought before being shot." What is it a runaway cadaver from the Human Body Exhibit?
...

*You guys missed a terrific jazz ensemble concert at NIC Friday night. Decent attendance. HBO's MarkR was playing the bass guitar for the troop. The free entertainment at NIC may be one of this community's best-kept secrets. BTW, Mr. and Mrs. MarkR are expecting a baby. Second piece of trivia: He's part of a family commenting combo here at HBO.
