Parting Shot: SR Hires Rebecca Mack

In this 2003 file photo, then KXLY 920 news co-anchor Rebecca Mack gets ready to queue program director Bud Nameck.

I am really pleased to announce that Rebeccca Mack, late of the Fuhrman/Mack show on KGA, will join us beginning Friday, taking over the Hard 7 column in 7 and the associated mini-blog on Spokane7.com. Those of you familiar with Rebecca from her talk-show days know she has opinions and doesn't hesitate to express them. She will be as fiercely independent as Hard 7's founding writer, Frank Sennett. Though most of us know Rebecca from radio, it turns out she is an excellent writer, too. Furthermore, she brings additional radio experience to our newsroom that I hope we can tap when we launch our radio initiative this spring/Steve Smith, News Is A Conversation. More here.

Question: What do you think of the SR's recent moves in hiring Dick Haugen, Rebecca Mack and announcing plans to have a radio/Webcast program?
