We’ll get another idea what the 2009-10 Gonzaga Bulldogs (8-2) are made of this afternoon when they take on No. 7 Duke (8-1) at Madison Square Garden in the Aeropostale Classic at 1 p.m. on KREM2. Matt Bouldin will return to the starting lineup for the No. 15 Zags after missing a game with a concussion he suffered in the home game against Augustana. KREM has a whole lineup of stories about the big matchup here. Meanwhile, Portland State plays at Washington State, Houston Baptist plays at Boise State, and Eastern Washington travels to BYU. Idaho doesn’t have a game. You can play this Wild Card while waiting for your favorite game …

By now, I trust many of you have heard that Senator Ben Nelson of Nebraska caved in and provided the critical 60th vote to enable the Reid health care reform bill to move forward. Everyone should know that Nelson did so because he gained ‘special’ treatment for Nebraska for their portion of Medicaid. In other words, Nelson took the bribe. Why does that mean anything to those of us in Idaho? It means that our tax dollars will be partially paying for the break that the fortunate Nebraska folks receive. It is shameful. This health reform bill that Reid manufactured, in a closet with his democrat buddies, will absolutely destroy any chances of job growth and economic recovery if it is passed in its current version. Most Americans are not if favor of this legislation, in its current form, and yet it is being ram rodded through the congress.

hmoffsuite, Idaho receives more money from the federal government than it pays in taxes.

Phaedrus >> “hmoffsuite, Idaho receives more money from the federal government than it pays in taxes”
That doesn’t discount my statement one bit. I’m talking about personal and corporate federal taxes.

hmoffsuite, your complaint is that Idaho taxes are going to Nebraska, my response is that taxes from around the country come to Idaho, in excess of what we pay. What is your point?
hmoffsuite on December 19 at 10:43 a.m.
Phaedrus. My complaint is that a portion of MY tax dollars will be going to subsidize Nebraska medicaid. I also don’t care for the idea that a portion of MY tax dollars will likely be funding abortions. Many of which are performed merely as a means of birth control.

The problem is that our two repub senators aren’t smart enough to get in on the deal making!

A portion of Nebraska taxes subsidize Idaho highways, Medicaid, etc., etc. etc.
..a portion of MY tax dollars will likely be funding abortions..
False.
Many of which are performed merely as a means of birth control.
Proof?

No one has to like abortions, I personally don’t like them but I also see the right of the women to decide for herself what is in her (the woman’s) best interest. And no where in the bill does it say that individuals in the exchange will be provided funding for abortion services.

Nelson got more restrictive abortion funding rules as well as a whopping $45M (over 10 years) Fed subsidy to Nebraska’s woefully inadequate and underfunded Medicaid program.
DoD just WASTED and has no idea where or how, $45M in the time it took me to write this.

Well that didn’t take long, from Michele Maulkin’s blog comments::

What needs to be done is the people of Nebraska need to meet Nelson at his home in Nebraska at Christmas time. They need to bring rocks, torches, and signs. They then need to tell him that if he votes to break the next fillabuster for any reason he won’t have a home to come back to and that if he does come back they will use the rope to decorate a tree with him.
We need to get blunt with these traitors. They need to be put if free of their lives to remind them that they work for us or we reserve not only the right to vote them out but the right to kill them.”

Spoke, the writer (Maulkin?) really needs some plan D coverage to get those meds under control.

The Gonzaga game was painful on many levels. However, the New Mexico Bowl between Fresno State and Wyoming has been excellent. It just went into overtime, tied at 28.
