Why doesn’t college basketball have collapsible rims, like in the pros? 30 years ago, Daryl Dawkins who played center for the Philly 76’s started to destroy backboards, so the NBA installed collapsible rims to save the backboards.

No dunk involved,. He didn’t even have the ball.
That was a collapsible rim. They are not totally indestructible though.
