PFPD Blue Chief Hayes Retiring 7/31

Cliff Hayes, who has served as police chief of Post Falls for more than 20 years, has announced his retirement, effective July 31. Mayor Clay Larkin plans to nominate department Capt. Scot Haug to replace Hayes, when the City Council meets July 21. Hayes has been the Chief of Police since 1988 and a Post Falls employee since 1983. In a news release, City Administrator Eric Keck said: "Chief Hayes leaves behind a very well organized and successful organization that is viewed by many as the most technologically advanced Department within the State of Idaho and a Department that is also highly respected nationally." Hayes began his career in Post Falls as a dispatcher for fire, medical, and police services. He became a patrol officer in 1984, a detective sergeant in 1986, and chief of police in 1988. On three occasions, he served as an interim city administrator, in addition to his duties as Chief of Police -- in 1990, 1993, and 1996. Complete news release here.

Question: What will be the legacy that Post Falls Police Chief Cliff Hayes will leave behind?
