RE: 2C Etc: Top 10 Pet Peeves/Huckleberries Online
JBelle: My pet peeve, that puts me in a snarl in an instant, makes the logger poetry ERUPT
from my mouth and all around irritates me to an extent that is unwholly pretty is when other drivers motion me. They motion me through the intersection. They motion me in and out of parking places. THEY MOTION ME TO MAKE A LEFT HAND TURN! So when did they go to the academy and graduate a traffic cop? Who put them in charge? When did I sign up to be subserviant to their commands?
Question: Fishwife can’t stand aging men with flabby arms riding Harleys. Charlie’s bugged by motorists who take two spaces to park. Kage Mann can’t stand owners who run dogs without leashes on Tubbs Hill. You can still add your pet peeves to the list.

The only peeve I can think of is when someone displays willful ignorance.
The rest is just … you know … “whatever” kind of stuff.
OfCoffee on March 30 at 9:31 a.m.
Ex-Californians who park in the fire lane in front of Starbucks in Hayden and run in for their latte. The rest of us will just have to drive around - somehow they are priveledged to not have to walk an extra 20 feet to park in the parking lot.
Charlie on March 30 at 9:41 a.m.
OfCoffee struck a nerve with people who park in the fire lane, even though it’s clearly marked.
Also folks without handicapped stickers parking in those spaces.

I forgot, there’s one more thing that peeves me greatly. Guilt trips.
I freakin HATE it when people blame you for inconveniencing them in some way (usually something you’ve ALREADY apologized for), then sit back, fold their arms, and look at you in a smug “gotcha” kind of way. It’s petty, and it smells of doo doo.. and they can go jump off their own self important cliff for all I care.
I mean, really…what good is doing that? How is blame going to help in any fashion?
Cabbage Boy on March 30 at 10:14 a.m.
I agree with JBelle, the self appointed “traffic cops” that slow down traffic because they think they are being helpful. I probably irk some too because if there is hesitation at a 4 way stop, I have learned in this town, I just go. Figure that is better than spending 20 seconds trying to get someone else waved on through.
Another source of irritation is the excessive lights (that constantly malfunction) in our fair city. The new one at Golf Course Rd and Ramsey seems to be the latest trouble light. It serves little purpose right now other than to slow traffic from all directions and would better be served as a flashing yellow on Ramsey.
KeithErickson on March 30 at 10:41 a.m.
CB, I wholeheartedly agree. The new signal at Ramsey and Golf Course Road is insane. Fifty million cars going north-south on Ramsey and the light turns red. Frequently this happens when there is no traffic on Golf Course Road. It turns red, stopping countless cars on Ramsey for NO REASON. It drives me crazy.

One of the things that bother me when stopped at an intersection is when: the traffic light just barely turned green
and the @#$%^%## in back is honking their horn, because they’re in a big hurry. Like they’re the only ones in a hurry?
I drive according to whom I see driving. For instance:sometimes even if it’s my turn to go while stopped at an intersection, I’ll wave through a teenage driver with a lead foot, for safety’s sake.

I am REALLY peeved by people who come into my office minutes before we close for the day, 8:00PM, after a 12+ hour day, and expect complete care. It would be like going inot a restaurant five minutes before closing and ordering a big sit-down meal, or filling a shopping cart in Target two minutes before they lock the door!! It goes back to manners and entitlement, two subjects I have blogged about recently… and probably will again.

People who line up at a stop light or sign and leave 1-2 car lengths between them and the car in front of them. If they have depth perception problems then they shouldn’t be driving. If not, then they need to pull the heck up!
People who rush to enter the elevator before people have had a chance to exit it.
People who wait until the clerk has tallied up their purchases before they go looking for their check book. At least have it mostly filled out before the clerk is done. Also people who wait until then to find their check card.
People who insist on continuing their phone conversations while you are trying to help them.
Just to name a few.
Cis on March 30 at 3:35 p.m.
people who straddle the turn lane line. So they are partially in the turn lane, and partial in the thru lane, slowing down to 5 miles an hour… with their blinker on, for at least 100 feet.
Get the in the full turn lane or keep going, Stop blocking me from going.
Well, now I know not to wave some one thru, as they might take offense. I thought I was letting them know, I wasn’t going to jump out there and they could pass safety. So next time, I will glare at her and say, COMPLAIN TO JBELLE.. and if she says she isn’t JBELLE, then I will say… WELL, TELL HER THAT., IT IS HER FAULT I AM NOT BEING POLITE. ..

JeanC >> “People who line up at a stop light or sign and leave 1-2 car lengths between them and the car in front of them”
That happens to be one of mine also. Some locales have a left turn lane, usually short, and the guys that leave a car space between them take up so much room in the lane, a person can’t get into the left turn lane. It backs up traffic and causes jams. Having a space between every car is like doubling the amount of cars on the road. At intersections, anyway.
Cabbage Boy on March 30 at 3:48 p.m.
Cis, I do understand the intention of being polite. But efficiency should trump politeness on the road. Being overly polite may deny the person behind you the opportunity to make it through the stop in reasonable time. It also slows everyone else down, if the rules were followed, everyone would make it through reasonably and without undue angst.
Cis on March 30 at 4:58 p.m.
The times I do this, is when I come to the 4 way stop sign at the exact same time, as someone else does. So rather than play the mini chicken bit, I just wave them thru.. and I go… so this isn’t an inconvience to anyone… as they too have to stop.
Wouldn’t do it at a signal.
JBelle on March 30 at 6:01 p.m.
what happened to the rules of the road? like say, yield to the right? yield to on oncoming cars on turn? you know, THOSE RULES THEY QUIZ YOU ABOUT when you first get your license?
