CindyH: Son Sam Nails Mother’s Day

CindyH: Sam came home from school yesterday and presented me with a card. In addition to the gorgeous artwork, he wrote in painstaking nine-year-old penmanship: “Dear Mother, You are kind and loving. The unique thing about you is you’re more beautiful than any mom in the world. Your spaghetti is better than any other pasta. You have been there for me always. You led me through these good years, and the times when I was scared, and you held me close and calmed me. Thanks for being my mom. So here’s to you Mom— a woman of many talents, a pretty, loving, honest, awesome, happy, caring, cool, super and radical mom. Happy Mother’s Day, Sam.” My heart is full.

Question: Any of you other moms have an especially nice Mother’s Day Sunday? Please describe it.

We went to church as we do every Sunday and my boys read Proverbs 31 with their daddy in front of the whole congregation. It took a little coaxing to get Adam to do it, but he finally agreed. They did a great job and made me so proud. Then the whole family, including my mom and dad and sister and her family went out for lunch and then to the park downtown for the annual Mother’s Day concert. It was wonderful as usual and the weather was perfect. The kids ran (or crawled) around and played. I took lots of pictures. We laughed. We ate cupcakes and brownies. We spent the whole afternoon basking in the sun and each other’s presence. It was an amazing day.

The out of town kids called and sent flowers…
The one and only one that lives here local… took me, with Subway’s sandwiches and drinks in hand, to the city beach… and we ate as we looked at the snow topped mountains (my favorite place to sit.) Just a beautiful sunshine day, one on one… and then grandson showed up with a hug… and his own sandwich… great day in the eyes of this beholder.

Yeah, my nine year old son lost a tooth Sat morning and when I gave him the tooth fairy money, he disappeared with it. Went to a garage sale I found out later when he returned with a bag behind his back and looking quite pleased with himself. It was a partly burned candle. smelled nice too. The fact this kid spent his OWN money was especially touching!!
Then my husband booked a surprise trip to WOLF LODGE!!! Miracle of miracles he got a last minute reservation. YUM!!!
