I had planned on going to the Kroc Center to take a looksee this weekend but, not now.I can’t pass judgement on the wonders of ‘the Kroc Center’ with only one good eye to see through.I need to have a good set of eyes to see if Mayor Bloems decision to bring Joans dream here was a mistake or
the crowning achievement of her mayoratorial career.

Nancy Pelosi, is the gift that keeps on giving and she’s one of the reasons the republicans will take back one of the houses on Capital Hill.So much for the demos thoughts on witchhunts.

Cis. Thanks for the pics. Nice show, good weather. Car d’Alene is a great event also. And then the goodguys in Spokane and River Run in Post Falls. They are all good.

Saw this in the CDA Press this morning, an editorial about the invective that was spewing on the CDA Press website last week regarding the shooting death of a Native American at the hands of an Honduran. The Press editorial was all about giving too much freedom of speech. And the guidelines that the newspapers should follow when it comes to not publishing certain subjects; such as libel. And an open invitation by the Press staff to hear from it readership. Well, it would be all well and good if the Press actually practiced what it preached. But in both published to the printed press and under their own names letters ugly invectives dominate. And until it got so out of control that it even turned the stomaches of the Press’ moderators, it was allowed to dominate at the Press website too. Nor does the Press staff wish to hear and publish from all of its readership. Just those with ugly rants about who ever and whatever. If Dave Oliveria wishes to front page that editorial for all of its hypocrisy, he is welcome to it.
Dennis on May 17 at 7:32 a.m.
Well Arch,,,,, after reading the editorial on the “Mess” site, it looks like they are preparing a defense in case of a law suit. Your description of them being “Hypocritical” is dead on. This could be very interesting to watch how it will plays out.
Kage_Mann on May 17 at 8:19 a.m.
I think people are tired of the illegal aliens coming across the border and killing american citizens.I think this is the second case of an illegal alien killing an american in the CDA area. Not to mention other incidences of violence or threats by these illegals from South America, in this area. These criminals play by a whole different set of rules.I think we have to beef up our borders and apply stricter standards when someone applies for a green card to work here.Maybe then, these kind of tragedies will happen less often.
Arch_Druid on May 17 at 9:13 a.m.
Kage_Mann, CRIMINAL gangs of illegals have engaged in acts of violence against Americans AND their own. BUT until this Honduran suspect shot the Native American during a quarrel, WE don’t know if he was here illegally, or if he had a green card that would allow him to work legally in this country. Nor do we know if he had a criminal history. Well, he does now. All the details can only come out as his trial progresses. Why I suspect that the Press got on record as it did today, is that it became host to a court of public opinion that got super-heated in the rhetoric dept. And I’ll agree with Dennis, just maybe they are trying to protect their butts from a lawsuit.

Bike to work week offically came to a close yesterday, and I racked up a total of 90.5 miles for the week. If I wasn’t so busy yesterday, I would pushed that baby over 100. (you can count non-work miles if you run your errands on a bike rather than drive).
I’m excited to see the results, and who won. I already won two t-shirts and one of my team members won the second-place prize in the wrap up party drawing on Friday. He won a $500 gift certificate at Mountain Gear.
Team prizes should be announced tomorrow. Did anyone else participate in Bike to Work week? It was held in Kootenai County too…

Since Digger and OTV were talking about MacKenzie River Pizza, I thought I’d share an experience… We were there last night and our server provided some blog worthy moments… I posted the story on my blog - enjoy. http://nicholasccasey.blogspot.com/2009/05/happy-expletive-deleted-job-hunting.html

Shouldn’t that be Brown v. Board of Education?

“Happy mother effin’ Birthday”, nic!
Unbelievable. Am surprised the Manager didn’t comp you.
JIMMYMAC on May 17 at 3:12 p.m.
Nic,
First off, happy birthday. Secondly, unbelievable. The manager probably should have given you a certificate to cover the next time you visit, along with your address to send you a follow up apology letter-from he and possibly the higher ups. It’s a great spot to eat but they should be going the extra mile to make sure you return. With that said, the manager might have been so overly emabarassed that he wasn’t taking this all into account.
mike_s on May 17 at 4:48 p.m.
Speaking of birthday specials, I am curious to know who has the best specials around. Free dessert sounds pretty decent though I wonder if there are any better birthday offers out there.
Liz on May 17 at 4:51 p.m.
Yes, Nic, I’m with the others who said that you should have at the very least been comped that meal. But as JimmyMac said, the manager may just have been so stunned that it didn’t even cross his mind. This is so out of the realm of the usual complaints about servers that I can’t imagine what was going through the manager’s head at that moment.
I forwarded a link to your blog post to some of my former co workers in the hospitality biz, just so we could share in our amazement that a food server would actually act like such an unbelievable a**hole. And with completely no provocation, whatsover….

Oh, and Kage…I will be chuckling all day over that quote about “Nancy Pelosi is the gift that keeps on giving”
Priceless!!!

The Swinging Door tavern in Spokane will give you a free meal, steak and potato, I think, on your birthday.

Biden does it again. Just like Pelosi, he never ceases to amaze with his blunders and stupidity. He is a joke and he was right when he said Hillary was better qualified to be VP than he was. That dolt.

Mike - Tomato Street makes you wear a goofy hat and they sing to you. Not sure if that’s the kind of special you were hoping for… but you get a free dessert there too.

Everybody and his brother knew about the “secret” “undisclosed location” under the Naval Observatory VP residence, HMO. Don’t you READ? Believe me, the terrorists do.
What a non story. Faux Snooze, of course.
Suck it up. 7.75 years to go.
Meanwhile, almost 2/3 of Republican insiders think Cheney is hurting their party.
“Q: Has Dick Cheney helped or hurt the Republican Party since leaving office?
Republicans (100 votes)
Helped 33 percent
Hurt 57 percent
No effect
(volunteered) 5 percent
Both;
don’t know
(volunteered) 5 percent”
“”There is nothing Dick Cheney can say or do to help the Republican Party today. The best thing he can do is disappear for the next 10 years.”“

Once again, cantread, Cheney isn’t the Vice President anymore and is a non issue. Biden is in play. Nice try to change the subject.

In case you hadn’t noticed, HMO, former Vice President Dick Cheney is, by his own actions and utterances, making himself a news story, day in and day out.
Sisyphus on May 18 at 8:14 a.m.
Mitch McConnell’s polling shows a favorability rating of 22%. Boehner tops out at a whopping 15%. Congressional GOP as a whole doesn’t even get that many with 13%. Only 20% have a favorable view of the Republican Party. American’s definitely expect more from their elected leaders. But the polling clearly shows in whom they lack confidence. I sure hope Republicans pull their heads out. But when Cheney goes around and acts like he’s leading the opposition party, its not going to help people listen to their ideas, if any.
