Christie: CdA Backs Public Safety

RE: Property crimes no big deal in Spokane/Doug Clark,  SR

Christie Wood: I did the Angela Muson radio show last week with some reps from our local Crime Stoppers and this was a topic we discussed. I feel bad for Spokane citizens, the Mayor and Council, and Law enforcement due to the budget cuts they are dealing with. The City’s loss in revenue, and other economic factors is having a very negative impact on Spokane. They are good people dealing with a bad situation. We are very fortunate here in CDA. Our City leaders have done a good job of managing the budget, prioritized well, and we are still able to provide much needed services. I know many people have strong political feelings, but it cannot be denied that City leaders have kept our City from dealing with cuts to public safety. Politics should be set aside, and they need be to commended for their leadership.

Question: Christie Wood brings up a good point. Coeur d'Alene city leaders have undergone withering attacks, usually by the CAVEr crowd, re: their approach to city government. Yet, they have handled the budget in such a way that no cuts to public safety have been needed. Don't they deserve props for that?
