Coeur d’Alene To Dedicate ‘Poop Art’

The city of Coeur d'Alene will be dedicated public art at the wastewater treatment plant, north of North Idaho College on the Spokane River, at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17. The dedication will feature "The Cleaning Crew" by local artist Allen Dodge and "Harmony" by Dale Young. Dodge's art work captures the image of the micro-organisms that break down Coeur d'Alene's sewage. You can view all the pieces to be dedicated here. (Courtesty photo by Stebbijo)

Coeur d’Alene will dedicate new public artwork at the wastewater treatment plant on Tuesday, July 17. The artwork entitled “Cleaning Crew” by local artist Allen Dodge, consists of seven (7) larger-than-life welded steel statues of microbes used in the purifying process by the Wastewater Treatment Plant. “Harmony,” by local artist Dale Young, is a carved basalt column depicting the elements of sky, earth, and water, and the sense of imbalance between humans and our natural environment. The statues were commissioned by the Coeur d’Alene Arts Commission. The dedication ceremony will begin at 1:30 p.m. at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, 765 Hubbard Avenue, Coeur d’Alene. Mayor Bloem will officiate and treats will be provided courtesy of the City of Coeur d’Alene.

DFO: Don't think I'm dissing the latest examples of Coeur d'Alene's public art when I use the term "poop art" in the title. I know it's meant as contempt by the Hard Right detracts of Coeur d'Alene progress. But I'm sort of fond of the term. It is about the community's poop. And it's educational.

Question: The news release sez that treats will be provided at the dedication, courtesy of the city of Coeur d'Alene. What would be an appropriate treat of such a dedication?
