17YO Post Falls Girl Found Drowned

A 17-year-old Post Falls girl has been found drown in Lake Coeur d'Alene near the Higgens Point Recreational Area. The Kootenai County Sheriff's Department hasn't released the name of the victim who may have committed suicide. At 9:45 p.m. Monday, sheriff's deputies were asked to assist in locating the girl who was considered possibly suicidal. Cell phone tracking was used and gave a potential location of the Higgens Point, east of Coeur d’Alene.  After an extensive search of the area, indications were that the victim was in the water. Divers from the Sheriff’s Office were able to locate the victim in about 35 feet of water, approximately 50 feet from the shoreline. She was pronounced dead at the scene.  There were no indications of foul play.
