Gridley: I Didn’t Talk To Souza

"The city attorney told me I have followed all the laws and have provided them with all the information they requested, but the "investigation" will continue until after the election -- Mary Souza, in Oct. 21 newsletter.

City Attorney Mike Gridley sent Huckleberries the following email moments ago:

"I saw that Mary Souza has distributed a newsletter claiming that she has talked to the “City Attorney” regarding irregularities and possible campaign finance law violations.  For the record I have never spoken to Ms. Souza regarding this matter and I have certainly never told her that she has followed all the election laws.  I understand that she did meet with Deputy City Attorney Warren Wilson and City Clerk Renata McLeod regarding this matter and requested a letter indicating that she is in full compliance with the Sunshine Laws but she was told that issuing  such a letter would be inappropriate until a final review of all of the required filings is completed after the election is over.  Because information regarding a questionable campaign contribution by an organization named “Ocean of Life Foundation” was brought to our attention, we requested additional information from Ms. Souza, which she has provided.  At this point, we have not been contacted by the person behind “Ocean of Life” and therefore cannot comment further on that matter."
