Community rallies to support family who lost daughter in Highway 95 crash

MOSCOW, Idaho - A Moscow family is mourning the loss of their 13-year-old who died in a car crash over the weekend.

Russell and Lisa Qualls were taking their 13-year-old adopted daughter Kalkidan to Montana to visit friends she grew up with. The family said Russell hit a patch of ice on Highway 95 and lost control causing the family van to slide into oncoming traffic. Kalkidan died on scene. Both Russell and Lisa suffered minor injuries. All three were wearing seatbelts. What only was meant to be a day trip turned into a day they'll never forget.
