Thom: When Parents Fly The Coop

Thom George comments: "In our case it is the parents who have flown the coop far, far away, but it is just as difficult. Our son lives in Seattle, our daughter lives in Boise and we live 6,000 miles away in Shanghai, China. I was gone 5 months before I cam back for a visit in February, but a new granddaughter brought me back 8 weeks later. It is going to be much harder to leave here and return to China after holding that baby in my arms, but thanks ti Skype we'll get to see her often."

DFO: I suspect there will be a lot of pressure to retire from Mrs. O when grandbaby No. 1 enters the world. I have one kid in Florida and the other in Portland, Ore.

Question: Do you live near your kids?
