JMRusche (RE: Sims explains vote vs mental health center): I read the letter. It appears that Rep. Sims doesn't remember that the State is already in the behavioral health business. State Hospital North and State Hospital South are State of Idaho entities. The community mental health centers staffed by Dept of H&W personnel are present in many cities in the state. We deliver services through Mental Health and Drug Courts, and often through our dept of corrections. the purpose of the crisis centers is to give appropriate behavioral crisis care in a location other than a jail or emergency department. If Representative Sims had talked to a physician or psychologist she could easily have determned that the wording"appropriate care" is well understood by those in the business.

DFO: Doc Rusche, of course, is the House Minority Leader from Lewiston. It's a privilege to have him commenting on HucksOnline.
