On Jan. 31, 2016, the Coeur d'Alene Police Department was contacted by the mother of an 8-year-old female who reported her child may have been the victim of lewd conduct by a 16 year-old male. She stated her daughter attends a private daycare located at 3707 N. Belmont in Coeur d’Alene and allegedly has been victimized on at least two occasions. The owner and operator of the daycare, a 42-year-old female, was allegedly made aware of the first lewd and lascivious crime, which occurred in August 2015, and allegedly failed to report this crime as required by Idaho statute. Subsequent to this first incident, additional sex crimes allegedly were committed at this residence involving the same juvenile male suspect. The latest incident occurred on Jan. 30. Therefore, the Police Department is investigating the owner of the daycare business for failure to protect minor children in her care (written as “Injury to Children” in Idaho code)/retired Sgt.
