Rare Earth singer to perform in CdA

Get ready, Coeur d’Alene. Peter Rivera, the legendary lead singer and drummer of one of the most popular U.S. bands in the 1970s, will be performing Friday at 1st Friday Funk. Rivera will accompany The Step Brothers, a Spokane band showcasing what 1st Friday Funk organizers consider some of the most talented musicians in the region. With Rivera, Rare Earth sold more than 25 million records including top 10 hits like “Get Ready,” “I’m Losing You,” “Hey Big Brother” and “I Just Want to Celebrate.” Tyler Davis, owner of Davis Productions, the company behind the Live After 5 concerts on Wednesdays and 1st Friday Funk, said it’s a rare performance for Rivera. “He’s actually considered one of the best in the world,” Davis said. The band will be on stage at the corner of Sixth and Sherman/Coeur d'Alene Press.
