New chair didn’t support local sheriff

Contrary to the old movie, "Support Your Local Sheriff," the new chairman of the Kootenai County GOTP didn't. Remember, as part of a mailing seeking support for his Precinct 61 race for comitteeman, Brent Regan also included a list of his endorsements from House District 2. He backed Vick, Barbieri & Redman. No surprises. However, he filled in the box for "constitutional sheriff" candidate John Green over mainstream Republican incumbent Ben Wolfinger in the GOPrimary race for Kootenai County sheriff. Wolfinger trounced Green. Now, as local party chairman, Regan will be expected to back Wolfinger in the general election against Tina Kunishige, another constitutional sheriff candidate running as a Democrat. Will Regan back his party nominee or the constitutional sheriff candidate? Inquiring minds what to know.
